My Mom

Today is my Mom’s birthday so my blog today is a tribute to her.  My Mom is awesome. She is a great listener. She almost only gives advice when I ask for it. She is beautiful. She is loving. She is a great mother. She is a fabulous example. She is a wonderful friend. She is patient. She is hardworking  She is a fun Grandma. She is thoughtful. She is compassionate. She is ALWAYS thinking of others. She is cheap (and this is a major compliment). She is always there for me. She raised seven great kids (if I don’t say so myself). She is faithful. I could go on and on. My Mom is my hero. When I grow up I want to be just like her (hehe). I love you Mom.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Pumpkin Patch

Our family tradition is to go to the pumpkin patch on Adam’s birthday. This year since his birthday was on Sunday we went to the pumpkin patch Saturday after the BYU game. Yes BYU won – GO COUGARS! We had a blast. I found a cute little patch nearby Nik and Zoe’s school. The pumpkins weren’t as big as we are used to, but it all worked out.

Britain and Kalixta changed pumpkins about ten times, but finally settled on some pretty ones. Nik had to find the biggest one, of course. Zoe is not too picky (shocking, I know!). She found a nice one rather quickly. Our family rule is the kids can’t pick a pumpkin they can’t pick up. That narrowed Ammon’s selection down a bit. He changed his mind a few times but finally settled on one.

We had lots of fun taking photos too. Marci has offically been designated as our family photographer. Don’t know what we would do without her. Kenny gets the job of offical jester to get the kids to look at the camera and smile. His job is the hardest I think! So check out the album we created by clicking on the picture you see here and check out how much fun we had.

Simple Pleasures

Twins_kiss_amSee that? Every morning, that’s what I see after my girls get their hair brushed. They come into my office and show me how Mommy (or Marci) has styled them for the day. They know how much I like to see them with their hair all dolled up.

The best part, well it’s what you see them doing now. Yep, those lips are puckering up ready for a kiss from their Daddy. Once I tell them how beautiful they are, I get a great big fat kiss. That’s all I need… some good loving and I am ready for anything the day will bring me.

Oh, I shan’t forget my new little princess- Ari comes in to give her Daddy a kiss as well- only her hair isn’t quite ready for broadway…

You can keep your boys Mommy… I am in paradise with all these future Queens around me. What more can an old man ask for?

Meet Maisy

Maisylook_1 This is the latest addition to the family. Her name is Maisy and as you can see she is a Red, Short-haired, Dachshund.

Most of you know that we already have a Black/Tan Short-haired Dachshund named Charlie. For the past year, I have felt that we needed to get him a companion. Unfortunately, these dogs cost around $500-$600. We couldn’t afford that. So I started looking on Craigslist and lo and behold, someone posted that she was selling Maisy for $100 because she already had four cats and they weren’t too pleased with her. So I emailed her (about 3 times) and she called me and said I could come and look. I didn’t know Maisy was red nor short-haired before I talked to her. I just saw a purebred female Dachshund with papers for $100. I was willing to take whatever.

The fact that I wanted a female, red, short-haired with papers made this a perfect match for us. Maisy instantly fit into our family and as you can see from the pictures (CLICK HERE) she loves the kids.

She is a beautiful dog and has all the energy of a rambunctious puppy. She bugs Charlie to death by biting his tail, legs, and ears but he is starting to get used to her. I am sure they will be lifelong friends. Eventually, we hope to breed them once or twice.

For now though, Maisy is living the good life. All kinds of kids to play with, a big brother named Charlie to show her the ropes, and a family that will love her all the days of her life.

Wells Fargo Player of the Game

Jasongame138-0! That was the final score if you don’t already know. BYU beat Utah St. pretty bad on Saturday thanks to the Wells Fargo Player of the Game- Jason Beck. Yes, you heard right… Jason was named the player of the game and rightly so. If they had not taken such a commanding lead in the first half, I think his stats would have been a lot higher. They were actually pretty incredible as it is.

Look here:

20 for 28 in pass attempts (71.4 % completion percentage)
305 yards passing
1 TD
All this led to a 167.57 pass efficiency rating.

So we are all proud of Jay. He did well and now he’ll be back to his old role as backup QB. At least now the world knows how much talent he has. And if he is called on again, no one will be complaining.

Here are links to some article about the game:

TMX Elmo

I saw this on YouTube and could not stop laughing…

Well, I decided that my twins HAD to have this toy. I looked online and all the stores are sold out- ToysRUs, Walmart, Kmart, Target. I went to eBay and saw that people are selling them for $250… they retail at the stores for $39. This is crazy. It reminds me of the Cabbage Patch Kid Craze back in the 80s.

So it looks like I will have to join the mobs when the stores expect to get them. A Kmart clerk told me that when they came in they were all sold within an hour.

Heck, maybe my kids won’t get them. It’s too bad because they even have a Spanish version.

Ready to Roll

Jaythrowing_1 It would seem that our family are not the only ones getting caught up in the hype of Jason starting this week. I woke up this morning to a huge article in the local paper talking about Jason starting against Utah St. There was a great pic too. Check it out.

Go Jay!
