Tissue Paper Art

I have preschool this week when we are going to celebrate Valentines Day! I am so so excited and have been thinking about it and planning since last month! I decided I wanted to do something I remember doing in elementary school. It’s when you have squares of tissue paper that you gently wrap around the end of a pencil, dip in glue and then stick to a certain holiday shape. In this case a heart. Do you remember doing this in school? Well my kids have never done it and I needed a little holiday decoration so I did it with the kids. Plus I needed to try it to see if it would be too hard for Ariana.

Well not only was it hard for Ariana it was hard for everyone!! So it got vetoed for preschool, but it was fun and the end results look really cute!

Working hard!!

Finished products!

Ariana did get the hang of it and she did hers all by herself!

Tori got glue on her shirt so she had to change it!!! I just spread glue all over her heart and she stuck the tissue paper on it!

Kalixta really got it and was the first one done!

Britain really struggled and Kalixta helped her finish! It was cute to see them working together!!

Ammon hated this project! I told him that he just needed a little practice and we would do it for every holiday for the rest on the year! He did NOT like that idea!

Zoe did good and liked it but thought her heart was too big to do the whole thing. She outlined hers and then glued the middle flat!!

This is such a good idea. I forgot that I made something like this when I was younger. It gives me an idea for the children I babysit. I think they’d have fun with this. I’m going to be showing them origami in a couple of weeks. I’m waiting for the book to come. This looks like fun. It looks like everyone enjoyed this project… well maybe not Ammon, ha ha. This looks great!

I think I do this craft every time I go help with 1st or 2nd graders. It’s always a hit!
