Surgery

Nik had his surgery yesterday to remove his tonsils, adenoids, and turbinates. He has been very nervous about having surgery, not even the bribe of missing school and getting tons of ice cream made him feel better! He did great though. It was a very long day. We got to the hospital at 9:30.

He was too big for the pajamas the kids usually wear, so he had to wear a gown. He did not like that at all!

Turbinates are selves on the side of the nose. The removal of them caused Nik to have a constant nose bleed for the rest of the day. The removal of the tonsils is the most painful part, but he is doing great. He had a hard time waking up. He just wanted to lay in bed. This is about two hours after he woke up! We finally left the hospital about 4:30. Tori went with me and was great! She slept the whole time.

He looked down and saw this red bandage around his hand and a little blood he thought the doctors broke his hand! It took me a minute to calm him down and explain it was just the IV!

Last night was hard. The doctors tell me the worst is still to come. I am glad we got it done. but I can't wait for this week to be over!

    Nik,
Sure do love you. Heal up real fast. Enjoy that ice cream. Don’t put on any weight.
    Love ya,
    Grandma

  1. I remember when Matthew had this done when he was 3. Going through the process made me so grateful for healthy children. Could you imagine doing the hospital routine endlessly? Get well soon, Nik.

  2. Hope Nik feels better quick. Tori is so darling!! Hope all is well!!

I’ll be praying for an easy recovery. Gage had his adenoids out, and I think that was the hardest of all his surgeries. I feel for you.

Get well soon, Nik!! I had my tonsils and adenoids removed when I was 20. It has not been long enough for me to FORGET exactly what you are going through. It was manageable when I took the pain medication as often as allowed.
Enjoy the ice cream and popscicles!
    Praying for ya,
    Tiffany

  3. Hope you fee better soon Nik! We’re pullin’ for ya!
