Nik Did It Again!!

I wish I could say that Nik had his best game ever!

That he scored the winning touchdown again!

That he sacked the quaterback again!

That he had the game changing play, again!

But I can’t!

Two Fridays ago Nik dislocated his knee cap, again!

He started out having a great game, two tackles for a huge loss of yards, an awesome catch. The end of the 1st quater he came out of the game and didn’t go back in!

It is so hard to see my son hurting and not being able to help! He wanted to play so bad, but he couldn’t put any pressure on his knee!

He watched the rest of the game from the back of the cart!

He said it felt like it did when he dislocated it, so we put the knee brace on and he has been on crutches.

Wednesday I took him to the Dr’s. We spent the day getting 2 x-rays!

He was kinda embarrassed to get wheeled around!

A CT scan.

And an MRI!

Friday the Dr. said surgery! There is a piece of cartilage that got banged off when the knee cap was dislocated and it is hanging out behind the knee cap causing pain! The ligament on the inside of his knee is torn and needs to be reconstructed!

Wednesday is the big day!! Halloween, I know, that is a date I won’t forget!!

We spent Friday registering at the hospital and getting blood work done! She did it on this arm and the blood stopped coming so she had to do it again on the other arm! Poor Nik, he does not like needles!

Then we went and got him a new brace! This one is long and makes him feel like a cyborg!

He will start physical therapy soon and will be back to normal in 4 months! Just in time for baseball! His knee will be stronger than ever!

He is feeling good and a little nervous for Wednesday but excited that this will (hopefully) never happened again!!
