Kalixta’s Creativity

Marci did the girls' hair Sunday. They each had fun hair dos. Marci is the best at doing and creating hair styles. Yesterday she let Kalixta decide how she wanted her hair! It looked a little like a crazy hair day. She had some great ideas. Maybe she will be a hair stylist some day!

Easter Eggs

Today we dyed our confetti eggs for Easter! We have TONS! I think this is the most I have ever saved. Plus Marci and Kenny added and few dozen. Jordan and Michelle and Marie have some saved too!  The kids (and adults) got really creative. We had a great time!

After we had been working for 30 minutes or so Ariana tells Jordan "That's weird Jordan. That egg is blue! That's weird!" We all had a good laugh about that later!

Gotta love all the stained fingers!

Nik’s Hair

Adam cuts his own hair and he cuts the boys' hair. It has been a while since he cut Nik's, like October maybe. So Nik's hair has been getting long. Too long! He likes it that way. Mom doesn't! We have been telling him it's time for a hair cut and today it finally happened!

This is before!
IMG_7309
He had started this little head shake to get the hair out of his eyes. It was almost like a twitch. Funny, but annoying too!

Here is the after.
IMG_7312
Short is definitely my favorite.  He was kinda mad and spent the afternoon mopping. He wore a beanie after the cut so no one would see his hair. By evening he gave that up because it got too hot. Now he is wearing baseball caps!
IMG_7313
Lucky for Nik next week is school spirit week and on Monday all the kids can wear hats!

Spring Cookies

I've been in the baking mood. This in unusual. Today we made sugar cookies. And not just any sugar cookies. We made White Velvet Sugar Cookies found here. If you have not checked out My Kitchen Cafe yet, you need to. Her recipes are amazing!

Anyway, we had a great time making, cutting out, and frosting the cookies.

But the best part, of course, is eating them!

Adam said they were great, but they didn't beat the cookies my Dad makes. My Dad makes great sugar cookies, nice and thick! Guess I need to make mine thicker!

Mover and Shaker

Tori is a little mover and shaker. She is always kicking, even in her sleep. I often find her like this (or worse) when I pick her up in the morning.

IMG_7281
Can you tell that both her feet are in the same leg hole? Pretty cute! I don't think it bothers her at all. A few more minutes and she got one of those feet loose.
IMG_7284
Right now my little mover is sick so all she wants is to be held. She wants me to stand up and hold her face out. Don't turn her around because that will cause the wailing to start. Nik is holding her right now, swinging her a little scary, but my arms are resting so it is okay for a minute.
Last night was hard. She slept a total of 1 hour in her crib and 30 minutes in the swing. Ariana is sick too. She got up a few times last night. Hopefully tonight will be better! I can't complain to much. It could be worse! I could be sick!

Green Dinosaurs

Britain and Kalixta made dinosaurs this week at school. Britain said to be sure to put a picture on the computer so that "my Grandmas" can see! So here so go Grandmas!

IMG_7289
I took three pictures and then asked Britain is she just wanted to smile. She said, "No, this is better!"

I Do It Myself!!

Potty training is going great! Ariana rarely has any accidents. Now she wants to go to the potty by herself. She does great at going, but she has to do it herself. This is her favorite phrase. She has to do it all! Put her shoes on, by herself! Get into her chair, by herself! Wash her hands, by herself!  Pick her own clothes, by herself! (that makes for some interesting outfits!) When she is done going potty she has to pull up her underwear, by herself! But she can't pull up her pants. She either walks out of the bathroom with her pants around her ankles or calls to me from the bathroom for help! Sometimes she just runs around with nothing on. It always makes for an interesting day!

Cats

I am not a cat person. I don't like cats and will never own a cat.

BUT…

This cat is just too, too Cute!

Final Day of Paper Mache

Our last night making our Easter eggs we painted them. This was a much anticipated night. The kids drew out what they wanted their eggs to look like. Britain counted down the days until Sunday. Finally it came and we all had a blast.

Here we are painting!

This was the top of Britain's egg. The bottom is a different color and design!

Jordan and Michelle brought "painting hats" for the kids.

Zoe's said Happy Easter!
IMG_7248
The pictures don't even do the eggs justice. They are awesome!  Ammon's is four different solid colors with unique designs on each one. He really took his time and worked hard!

As you can see we had a great time and everybody was super creative. It is fairly easy and super fun! Try it!! Be sure to check out the Platts blog, BECK-tastic and Maire the Baguettes for see everyone else's eggs. They are great!

Paper Mache Day 2

After we waited a couple days for the eggs to dry we painted them white. We had to do that so you wouldn' t see the newspaper under all the pretty colors. Everybody LOVED painting the eggs!

IMG_7173
After this day Britain was counting down the days until we put color on them. She was so excited!
