Craving!

I am totally missing Adam. He will be home Friday at 3:00 am and I cannot wait. It has been a LOOONG two weeks, but it is almost over!

So at night when I am all alone because the kids are in bed, what do I do? EAT! Ice cream, chips, cereal, chocolate milk, chocolate (thanks goodness the Halloween candy is all gone),crackers, cheese, you name it really. My favorite is ice cream. So I started craving the best ice cream cake in the whole world. I got the recipe from Family Circle magazine. I made it for Adam and Ammon’s birthdays and it really was so easy.

Well I didn’t make it, but I thought I would share the recipe with you.

First the pictures…

Ingredients

  • 15  chocolate and cream sandwich cookies (such as Oreo)
  • 1  tablespoon milk
  • 8 to 9  ice cream sandwiches, depending on size
  • 1  pint mint chocolate chip ice cream
  • 1  pint vanilla frozen yogurt
  • 1  pint strawberry ice cream or frozen yogurt
  • 1  container (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed

Directions

1. Coat bottom and side of a 9-inch round spring form pan with nonstick cooking spray. Line side with waxed paper, using spray to help adhere to pan. Trim paper to height of pan.

2. Finely crush 12 of the cookies in a food processor. Add milk; pulse just until mixture holds together. Set aside.

3. Unwrap 4 ice cream sandwiches. Working quickly, cut each in quarters. Stack strips of sandwiches on end, packing them snugly together, around waxed-paper-lined pan. Repeat with remaining sandwiches to form a stand-up edge. Spoon cookie crumbs into center of pan; press firmly over bottom. Freeze 1 hour.

4. Remove all 3 flavors of ice cream or frozen yogurt from freezer and let soften for 15 minutes at room temperature. Transfer mint ice cream to a small bowl and stir until good but firm spreading consistency. Repeat with vanilla and strawberry. Remove pan from freezer. Spread mint ice cream on bottom, then top with vanilla and strawberry, spreading all layers level. Top with thawed whipped topping, swirling top decoratively. Crush remaining 3 sandwich cookies and sprinkle over cake. Return to freezer; freeze overnight.

5. To serve, remove side of pan, then waxed paper. Cut into wedges.

You can of course use your favorite flavors of ice cream.

ENJOY!

NEW CARPET!!!

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! We got new carpet today. I love how it looks. It is soo clean and fresh and NEW!!

This is before. It was light and got DIRTY way easy. Plus it was so hard to clean.

Hooray! Isn’t is great?! I so happy, it is hard to put into words. I love it! I love It! Hopefully Adam likes it too when he gets home in three days!!

Fall Leaves

My personnel photographer, Marci, came and took pictures of the kids with all the fall leaves. It was fun. I thought about doing this, but lacked the energy to pull if off, so thank goodness for Marci who has great ideas and lots of energy!! Plus way better photography skills! Thanks Marci!!

Going through all the pictures was soooo funny because of Nikolas, his expressions were priceless. If I ever figure out photo shop I might just do a whole blog on his faces.

This one is the cutest of Ari, the ONLY one she smiled in, but everyone else is looking in a different direction! Britain looks a little crazy too.

Dsc00786

I like this one, but we lost Ari and Britain is what? Pinching her cheek?!

Dsc00796

The ones on the rock are my favorite pictures. I love that Nik has his arms around his sisters in the top one. Britain even slid off the rock right into all the bushes below, but she just laughed and climbed back up!

Kalixta and Zoe were the only ones to take individual pictures. Everyone else ran off the play in the stream that was nearby. I love this one of Zoe in the grass.

Bye Bye Curls

Kalixta had the most beautiful hair with all her curls. Lately it has just been a tangly mess, so I decided to cut it. I procrastinated for a few weeks because I really didn’t want to cut her hair. That was until today when Kalixta asked me, "When am I getting my hair cut?" So I decided today would be the day.

SO here are the befores…

And the afters…

Img_1539   Img_1540

Isn’t is awesome!!!! Can you tell from the BIG grin how much she likes it. She told the hair dresser, Nicole, exactly how much to take off. She kept looking in the mirror to check it out, and as we were leaving she said, "I love getting my hair cut!" She had so much fun modeling it for her siblings. Britain has told her at least ten times, "I like your hair cut. Sissy." So maybe Britain will be next. Who knows?!

Show N Teach

Ammon had show n teach at school today. He got to pick something he is good at and teach all his friends at school how to do it. He changed his mind  every day and worried about it all week. Sunday night he decided and practiced and practiced.

Finally today he got to teach…

Img_1529

how to blow a bubble.

He had a great time. He gave everyone in his class a piece of gum and then demonstrated how to blow a bubble. He was so shy at first but then he really got into it.

Britain and Kalixta went with me to school and loved it so much they wanted to stay. They read books, played with puzzles and met Ammon’s friends. They think school is great. Tomorrow they want to go to Zoe’s class. Uh Oh!!

Guess Who?!

Finally here are some Halloween pictures! Hope you can figure out who everyone is!!!

Here’s the trickiest one!

Img_1502

This is Kalixta! Doesn’t she look great! She saw the teeth and had to be a vampire. She did such a good job of keeping her teeth in, she would scream with her mouth closed so you had to guess what she needed. She DID NOT like people saying she was cute because she was scary!  She loved scaring Britain too. She would lean towards Britain and Britain would lean backwards crying, "Sissy, why do you have to be scary?!"

Img_1487

Yeah, Britain is pretty obvious! I was surprise she didn’t go for the princess thing, but she LOVED being Blue! She loved trick-or-treating too!

Img_1486

This is Ammon! Only a super hero costume for him. He loved the mask. His two good friends were Batman too, so that made his choice even better!

Img_1491_2

Yep, you guessed it! This is Nik and the inspiration for Kalixta! He went out with all his friends and had a good time. Nik is the first one to say that the haunted garage was the best part on Halloween! After the candy, of course.

Img_1504

Zoe is my cutesy little fairy! She borrowed Marci’s wings, wig and antenna. She loved the wig, though she says pink it no longer her favorite color she did like it better that the blond ones. Zoe refused to go in the haunted garage, even when her friends begged her and her little sisters loved it. That’s my little chicken girl.

Img_1494

There’s my little devil! She had a little pointy tail that you can’t see. She went trick-or-treating with Jordan and Michelle. She had a good time because she knew exactly what she was getting! She fell asleep on Michelle shoulder holding her pumpkins tight. Jordan tried to take it from her and she stared fussing until she got it back, then she went back to sleep. She knows exactly where the candy is in the house and using whomever or whatever she needs to get it!

Img_1489

This is Jordan and Michelle. Don’t they look awesome! Michelle made her costume out of a sheet! WOW! You can make me a costume anytime!

Img_1507

The newlyweds, Marci and Kenny. Marci always looks super cute and well… Kenny.  Kenny helped in the haunted garage so he has a scary mask that he is not wearing! Or is he…

Img_1509s

Marie was the cutest lady bug ever! My favorites are the skirt and the tights! Love it!

Jeff and Tisha were there with us but I didn’t get pictures. Jason and Jaime were there too. Sorry guys! I need to get better at that.

One last picture…

Img_1506

I couldn’t resist! This picture is GREAT, just like our Halloween. It really was the greatest Halloween!!

Adam’s Halloween Costume

I know that Melissa will be posting pics of our Halloween costumes soon but I wanted to put a little video of what I did on Halloween.

I turned the garage into a haunted garage and had lots of fun. At the end of the maze, the kids had to come to me and get the candy and this video shows a darkened view of what they saw.

Pumpkins

Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Pumpkins! We had so much fun carving our pumpkins this year. We each had our own pumpkin, Ammon had TWO, plus we had seven from our garden. Then you add a pumpkin for Kenny and Marci, two for Jordan and Michelle, and one for Jeff and Tisha and you got a whole lot of pumpkins!! Hopefully on Halloween we will have another for Jason and Jaime. We sure missed them last night.

Kalixta wins the prize for being the most excited! She loved seeing every pumpkin finished and lit up and she didn’t get tired of gooey pumpkin guts, she had a blast. Ari loved her pumpkin! She didn’t like getting the seeds out, but she loved cutting it with Auntie Marci. She thought her pumpkin was so cute she even gave it kisses! Britain, of course, thinks hers is the prettiest since it has star eyes. Zoë shocked me and went for a scary face, which turned out great! Nikolas was worried about his howling wolf, but all lit up it looks very cool. Ammon was a carving machine, he carved his two pumpkins and then wanted to do more. I couldn’t have done it without all my awesome help! Thanks guys!!

Here’s all of us!

Another One?!

We had our third snow fall this month!!! It started Saturday afternoon during the BYU game. After the game we all went out and had a great snowball fight. Ari is unsure of how much she likes the snow, but she is sure it tastes good!

This was our Sunday morning view!!
