Cougar Pants!

My Mom sent these pants to Ari. She calls them her cougar pants and she loves them! Can you tell we live near BYU?!

Decorating the Tree

We waited until Sunday to decorate the tree. Every time a new person enters our family (either through birth or marriage) my grandparents buy two ornaments with their name on it. One for their tree and one for the new person's tree. This is a special tradition for me. We always put those ornaments on the tree first! Tori got hers and it is beautiful! It says Tori on the back!

Nik scolded me for never having pictures of me on the blog. Here you go Nik!

The last ornament on the tree is a pickle. Adam hides it while the kids are downstairs. The first one to find it gets the first glass of eggnog! Ammon found it this year!

From Germany legend has it that the pickle brings good luck and was the last ornament on the tree. On Christmas morning, the first child to find the pickle was rewarded with an extra gift from Santa. The tradition encouraged the children to appreciate all the ornaments on the tree rather than hurrying to see what Santa brought. In our house the pickle finder gets to open the first present.

Picking a tree

We all went to pick a Christmas tree last week after school. The kids had a fun time running around the lot while Adam and I found the perfect tree. Nikolas was in charge of the camera for a while and got some good pictures!

Hair do of the week!

I love this do for church or other fancy outing (like weddings). It is pretty easy it just takes time to do all the curling.

IMG_3039
I learned this one when Zoe had her hair done at a salon.

I added (well Adam did, I haven't figured that out yet!) the hair blog to the side bar so you can be inspired any day!
Enjoy doing something new this week!

Gingerbread Village

Saturday night Kenny and Marci babysat the kids so Adam and I could go to a Christmas party. They decided to make gingerbread houses with them. Marie and Michelle came over to help. They had a great time and made really fun houses.

Here is our gingerbread house village.

What a sight, huh? Kenny and Marci did this last year with the kids too. The houses are so much better than last year. It was fun to see the improvement. The kids each had a story too. Nik had Santa with his sleigh and reindeer on the roof. They were all so creative! Click on the picture to see more pictures of all the finish products up close.

Finally!

We finally had a great snow storm Saturday. We all went out when it first started and then half the kids went out again with Marci and Kenny. It is so white and beautiful. It looks like Christmas now!

Zoe and Kalixta loved moving the snow around and making paths to follow.

I love this picture! Snowflakes on Ari's eyelashes.

Ariana had so much fun outside. She played until every body part was frozen. She would get snowballs and throw them at Adam and then run away giggling!

Santa Claus has come to town!

We went to see Santa Claus at Albertson's today.

The whole way to the store Ari repeated "I go see Santa Claus." I didn't know if she would love him as much in person, but she did! She ran right up to him and told him her name was Ari.

You can tell Ammon loves Santa.
IMG_5112
Zoe didn't want to go see him at first. She was afraid of him. I am glad she got over it!
IMG_5114
Kalixta was afraid of Santa, but Britain took her hand and they went together. It was very sweet of Britain.

And Tori, How cute is that! Her first trip to see Santa!

Hair Do

My hair do of the week is fun and easy. It works great in all of the girls' hair, but Ariana won't sit still long enough to try it out!

Britain & Boys

When I worked in Nikolas' kindergarten class there was this little girl who loved to chase the boys, hold their hands and kiss them. I wondered how did she learn those things.

Well now I know they are just born with it!

Britain came home from school today and asked Kalixta.

Britt: Who at school likes you Kalixta?
K: The other Trent. He likes me and Brynley.
B: Oh.

Britain waits. She wants Kalixta to ask her the same question. So I ask.

Me: Britain who at school likes you?
B: Scott and Haden.
M: How do you know Haden likes you?
B: He always has to sit by me.
M: How do you know Scoot likes you?
B: He always bothers me.
M: So if boys bother you that is how you know they like you?
B: Yep!
M: How do you know that?
B: I just do Mom! ( With lots of attitude and rolled eyes!)

Wow! I can't wait for kindergarten…and beyond!

Snow Flakes

Sunday night we all made paper snowflakes. Last year I saw snowflake decorations and thought it would be fun to put them in the front window. Since I was way to cheap to buy them I decided to try and make them. Thankfully Marie learned how to make amazing snowflakes and a new tradition was born. (Can you tell I LOVE traditions?!) I love how they all look in the front window. I have a few in the living room and kitchen too. It is so fun. So wintry!

Here is my front window!
